Chicago Murder Suspect Detained In Traffic Stop At Tipton-hamilton County Line

A man suspected of a murder in Chicago was arrested following a traffic stop on the Tipton-Hamilton County line.

Around 2 p.m. on Sunday, deputies from the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office received a radio broadcast requesting the location of Carlos Keith’s white Dodge Charger.

Keith was apparently a murder suspect from Chicago; deputies did not indicate when the crime occurred.

According to the broadcast, Keith and the Charger were last spotted on US 31 between Argos and Plymouth in Marshall County, roughly an hour north of Tipton.

An Indiana State Police officer later stated on a broadcast that the Charger was spotted by a traffic camera in Kokomo while going southbound on Reed Road.

Tipton County deputies then went to U.S. 31 to look for Keith, and they eventually found him traveling southbound over the speed limit.

Cops formed a line behind Keith, notified Hamilton County law enforcement that they were behind the Charger, and requested extra cops to aid them. Officers from Hamilton County then positioned themselves near U.S. 31 and 236th Street.

When the Charger neared the crossroads of U.S. 31 and 236th Street, Tipton County deputies performed a “felony stop.”

Carlos Keith was taken into prison without incident. During the arrest, authorities discovered 2.5 ounces of marijuana and $762.

Keith was booked into Tipton County Jail on preliminary accusations of marijuana possession and dealing.

Deputies did not specify when or whether Keith will be extradited back to Chicago.
