BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) has received a $60,000 grant from Kaiser Permanente Southern California to address food insecurity in Kern County.
The funding will enable CAPK to purchase roughly 81,000 pounds of shelf-stable and fresh foods, providing an estimated 67,500 meals for underserved communities in the area.
During the check presentation, more than 20 Kaiser Permanente volunteers helped at CAPK’s food bank, packing boxes with essential food items to ensure vulnerable residents have access to nutritious meals, officials said.
“Food insecurity is a critical issue that affects the health and well-being of thousands of families. Through this partnership, we are proud to help provide healthy food options to those who need it most,” said Alesha Brown, community health consultant at Kaiser Permanente Kern.
