SMITH COUNTY, Texas — Authorities have arrested a California man linked to the disappearance of a teenage girl from East Texas, who has since been found safe.
The 15-year-old was reported missing on Saturday, July 26, from her home near Bullard. She has since been located and reunited with her family.
Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Brian Chavez from Anaheim. The Anaheim Police Department arrested him on Tuesday, July 29, in Placentia, California.
Chavez faces three charges, including sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 16.
“Smith County Investigators worked in conjunction with the Anaheim Police Department to bring this incident to a successful conclusion,” said the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.
