A California man is in custody after allegedly dousing his wife with gasoline and setting her on fire, leaving her with severe burns, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO).
Deputies arrested 42-year-old Sean Hofmann on Friday following the shocking incident involving his wife of 10 years.
Authorities responded to a medical aid call in the 24100 block of Avenue 120 around 5:30 p.m. on October 10, where they found the woman suffering from serious burns to her face, arms, and torso.
After a brief investigation, deputies determined that Hofmann intentionally poured gasoline on or near the victim, causing her to ignite.
The woman was airlifted to a nearby hospital and is now listed in stable condition, according to officials.
Hofmann was arrested without incident and booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody on a $1 million bond.
Investigators have not yet disclosed a motive for the attack.
