San Francisco police arrested a Bay Area man Wednesday after he robbed three banks in the city within a single afternoon.
Authorities identified the suspect as 62-year-old Valentino Luchin of San Francisco, a former executive chef who once ran two Bay Area restaurants — Rose Pistola in North Beach and Ottavio in Walnut Creek, which he also owned, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
On Wednesday, Luchin allegedly entered a bank on the 1100 block of Grant Avenue, handed a note to an employee, and demanded cash.
“Fearing for their safety, the employee complied and provided the suspect with a bag of U.S. currency,” SFPD said. “The suspect then fled from the area with the money.”
Later that day, Luchin targeted two more banks in San Francisco’s Central District using the same approach, police reported. Officers quickly identified him as the suspect and arrested him before the day ended.
Luchin is now booked into San Francisco County Jail on multiple robbery charges.
