The brother of a man found dead after a shootout with Miami police officers last month was detained for reportedly opening fire on another vehicle during a road rage incident, according to authorities.
Alan Henry Triana, 23, was arrested Sunday on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, shooting a deadly missile, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, cocaine possession, aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer without violence, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Miami-Dade jail records.
Triana was already on bond after being arrested last month on charges of attempted tampering with physical evidence, possession of armor-piercing ammunition, improper exhibition of a firearm or weapon, and felony harassment of a witness, victim, or informant in connection with the shootout involving his brother, Mason Triana.
Mason Triana allegedly opened fire on Miami police officers on October 9 before barricading himself inside a residence. Police discovered him dead inside the home after an hours-long confrontation.
The shootout injured two officers, but both survived.
According to police, the shootout was the result of a domestic quarrel between the siblings.
The fresh allegations against Alan Triana arise from an alleged road-rage incident on Sunday evening.
Miami Police arrived in the area of Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest 31st Street after the victim reported being involved in a road rage incident with a man driving a white Corvette who shot at him, according to an arrest report.
According to the report, the victim claimed he honked his horn at the Corvette driver, who then pointed a gun at him as he drove past.
He continued to drive, and the suspect shot him numerous times while he was on the phone with police, according to the complaint.
According to the story, police recognized the Corvette driver as Triana, who was released on bond with a GPS monitor following his arrest last month.
The GPS indicated Triana was at the scene of the road-rage incident, and the victim’s Tesla captured footage of the Corvette and Triana prior to the shooting, according to the report.
According to the article, Triana stated he was shot at and was terrified for his life, so he shot back.
According to the complaint, officers struggled with Triana before being able to apprehend him.
The complaint claims that Triana was “irate” and screaming, threatening to fight officers if she could.
When authorities searched Triana, they discovered a bag of cocaine and a rolled-up dollar bill in his pocket, according to the report.
Triana was booked into jail and came before a judge on Monday, who set a bond for the new charges, but he will have to face a division judge on Tuesday.
