Brooklyn Man Sentenced To Prison For High-speed Chase And Cocaine Possession In NY

Melquan Jordan, 35, of Brooklyn, was sentenced to 19 years in state prison after being found guilty of many counts, including criminal possession of a controlled narcotic and unlawfully evading a police officer. The Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office announced the sentencing following Jordan’s conviction on August 7.

On November 6, 2023, Jordan led New York State Police on a high-speed chase from Schaghticoke to Troy, NY, which ended at the Uncle Sam Bike Path. During the pursuit, Jordan collided with a state patrol vehicle, incurring over $1,500 in damage, and was discovered with over 8 ounces of cocaine.

District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly stated,

Drug trafficking will never be tolerated within our County. We will continue to prosecute individuals like Melquan Jordan who placed several lives at risk for the purpose of trafficking narcotics through our community.

Assistant District Attorney Claire Hewitt and Chief Assistant District Attorney Spencer Lane prosecuted the case.
