A 29-year-old Brandon man has been arrested after a series of lottery ticket thefts totaling nearly $800 from a south Lakeland convenience store.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said David Martinez Santiesteban stole tickets on four separate occasions — August 24, 28, 29, and 30 — with losses amounting to $785. After the store introduced security measures, Santiesteban attempted another theft on September 3 but left empty-handed.
Detectives Arcila and Evans identified Santiesteban as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant. On September 5, he turned himself in at the PCSO Southwest District Office and admitted to the thefts.
He now faces multiple charges, including four counts of burglary, four counts of petit theft, and one count of attempted burglary. Because he crossed county lines, the burglary charges were enhanced by one degree.
