Border Agents Recover Massive Amounts Of Meth At The I-19 Checkpoint

Border agents recovered 140 pounds of meth during a recent examination of the I-19 Immigration Checkpoint.

A trained Border Patrol canine team detected an odor from a Chevrolet SUV with Sonoran license plates.

This happened on September 8.

Agents referred the vehicle for further examination, and a more thorough search revealed over 100 plastic packages containing methamphetamine hidden throughout the vehicle.

The drugs contained in the bundles weighed approximately 140 pounds and had a street worth of more than $1,000,000.

A Mexican national visiting the United States on a non-resident visa was apprehended at the site.

The individual and the drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for processing, prosecution, and additional investigation.
