Bonita Housekeeper Arrested, Accused of Stealing $50,000 from Retirement Community Residents

A housekeeper at a Bonita retirement community has been arrested after investigators linked her to thefts totaling more than $50,000 from elderly residents.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, Tania Soliven was taken into custody following a search warrant executed at her apartment on October 2. Detectives from the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation, the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) team, and the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SED) participated in the operation.

Inside Soliven’s residence on the 4200 block of Bonita Road, deputies reportedly found a large cache of stolen property, including jewelry, collectible coins, computers, and cellphones believed to belong to residents of the Pacifica Bonita Villas Retirement Facility, where Soliven was employed as a housekeeper.

Authorities also discovered methamphetamine, a smoking pipe, five handguns, one rifle, and various rounds of ammunition, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Soliven, who was assigned to maintain the third floor of the retirement home, was booked into Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on charges of possession of ammunition and narcotics. Additional charges related to the alleged thefts are expected as the investigation continues.

The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with loved ones residing at Pacifica Bonita Villas who may have noticed missing valuables to contact the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Substation at (619) 498-2400.

“We want to ensure every victim’s property is identified and returned,” officials said.

The arrest marks part of a broader crackdown on theft and burglary targeting vulnerable senior residents in local care communities.
