A heartbreaking tragedy has struck Alabama’s Parker High School football program just as the 2025 season was set to begin.
Demetrice Beverly, a 37-year-old assistant coach, was shot and killed over the weekend at an apartment complex. Authorities say Beverly was inside with a woman when De’Corlion Robinson allegedly opened fire, fatally shooting the coach. Robinson now faces charges of murder and possession of a machine gun conversion device.
The news has left Parker High School and the surrounding community reeling.
“He’s a hard-working coach on the field, does what he’s supposed to on the football field all the time with game planning and working with the coaches and working with the kids,” said Head Coach Frank Warren. “He did a great job here at Parker.”
Warren remembered Beverly as “an attention-to-detail kind of guy” who excelled at breaking down film and preparing players for opponents.
The devastating loss comes just weeks before kickoff, and Beverly’s absence will be deeply felt across the program and community.
Our thoughts remain with his family, friends, players, and fellow coaches during this difficult time.
