Bakersfield Man Arrested for Vehicular Manslaughter After Deadly Paso Robles Crash

A Bakersfield man driving a Freightliner box truck was arrested after allegedly rear-ending a car and killing its driver in Paso Robles early Thursday morning.

The Paso Robles Police Department said that on December 4, 2025, around 5:30 a.m., officers and paramedics responded to a crash at the intersection of Golden Hill Road and Highway 46.

Police said the vehicles involved were a four-door Lexus and a 2017 Freightliner box truck.

The Lexus driver, a 63-year-old Paso Robles man, was stopped at a red light on westbound Highway 46 at Golden Hill Road when the Freightliner, also heading westbound, failed to slow down and slammed into the back of the car.

The impact killed the Lexus driver.

Police identified the Freightliner’s driver as 25-year-old Gean Marco HuamanCastro of Bakersfield. He was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

The investigation is still ongoing, but police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
