Adoptive Parents in Texas Charged With Capital Murder of 10-Year-Old Son

Jonathan Miranda, 34, and Christina Miranda, 32, were arrested Wednesday night in San Antonio and charged with capital murder in the death of their 10-year-old adopted son.

The arrests followed a week-long investigation that began when the child was found unresponsive at the family’s home in the 5600 block of Cielo Ranch late Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

When authorities arrived, they pronounced the young victim dead. The child had been under the guardianship of the Mirandas.

According to Homicide Detectives, the child’s body showed signs of severe trauma. A detailed review by the Medical Examiner’s Office determined the injuries were consistent with ongoing abuse over the course of about one year.

Based on the evidence, investigators had enough cause to charge both Jonathan and Christina Miranda with capital murder. A warrant was issued, and with the help of the Street Crimes Unit and Homicide Detectives, the couple was taken into custody on October 1, 2025.

The investigation remains ongoing, as the community struggles to process the tragic death of the young boy. The Mirandas are being held without bond and are awaiting arraignment.
