Father and Son Charged After Alleged Street Race Kills Two in Colorado

A devastating crash in Lakewood, Colorado, earlier this month that claimed two lives has led to the arrest of a father and son who police allege were street racing.

Gregory Mark Giles, 65, and his son, Bryce Anneaus Giles, 26, turned themselves in to authorities Monday night. Lakewood police believe the pair were engaging in a high-speed car race when their actions resulted in the fatal multi-vehicle collision.

The double fatality incident took place on the evening of November 13 near the intersection of South Kipling Parkway and West Mississippi Avenue. Following the crash, five people were transported to the hospital. Two victims, Demi Iglesias, 26, and Dalton Smith, 28, succumbed to their injuries.

Investigators concluded that the alleged race between the elder and younger Giles caused the catastrophic crash. Both men now face serious charges, including suspicion of:

  • Vehicular homicide

  • Reckless driving

  • Engaging in a speed contest
