A woman was hospitalized Monday evening in Rancho Cordova after a car crash and possible physical altercation, according to the California Highway Patrol. KCRA reported that the incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. on the Mather Field Road off-ramp from eastbound Highway 50. When CHP officers arrived, they found an unresponsive woman with head and facial lacerations and a man with minor injuries who was later detained.
Officials are still investigating the connection between the two and what led up to the crash. The collision, which ended with the vehicle striking the side of a hill on the off-ramp, may have been preceded by a physical altercation that began while the pair traveled on the highway.
