A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting of a DoorDash delivery driver in Mesquite last month, police announced Monday.
According to investigators, the incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 27, when the delivery driver arrived at a home in the 2000 block of Birch Bend. Police say a suspect wearing dark clothing approached the driver and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Responding officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and provided emergency aid until firefighters arrived. The driver survived and was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
After weeks of investigation, the Mesquite Police Department Major Crimes Unit, along with the Mesquite Tactical Unit, executed a search and arrest warrant Monday afternoon in the 1400 block of Regent Street. The suspect, identified as 17-year-old Ledavion Sockwell, was taken into custody without incident.
Sockwell now faces charges in connection with the shooting. Police have not
