Suspect Detained With Meth After Trespassing At Vacant Building In Wildwood

A suspect was detained with methamphetamine after reportedly trespassing on a vacant building in downtown Wildwood.

Anthony Mobley, 35, was apprehended shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday near South Main Street and Kentucky Avenue. He had a bicycle with a wagon which contained lighting and miscellaneous cables. Mobley admitted that he taken the things from an unoccupied building at 805 S. Main Street. He stated he “did not notice” the “No Trespassing” sign on the building.

Moments before police arrived, Mobley, who was jailed in 2023 for possessing methamphetamine, attempted to dispose of a cloth bag containing methamphetamine. He revealed to police that he attempted to dispose of the bag because he had previously been busted for methamphetamine and was “afraid of going to jail.”

He was detained on narcotics charges, trespassing, and one count of attempting to destroy evidence. He was taken into the Sumter County Detention Center on a $5,650 bond.
