Police sources say two men threatened a 22-year-old woman with a knife and forced her into the basement of a Ward Avenue home before raping her.
The incident happened shortly after 4 p.m. on Sunday, near the Masjid Darul Iman Mosque. Officers can be seen entering and exiting the home, carrying paper bags of evidence into a crime scene unit van, according to CCTV footage from the area. According to the NYPD, the victim was taken to a hospital for evaluation. She is anticipated to be okay.
According to NYPD data, rapes in the 43rd precinct are up 71%. There were 31 reported last year at this time, and there are currently approximately 54. Police do not have a description of the wanted men.
