A Hall County woman accused of hiding the death of a 4-year-old child is now facing multiple murder charges, according to authorities.
Jessica Motes, 36, of Gainesville, has been held at the Hall County Detention Center since late October in connection with the case.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported that the Oakwood Police Department and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance after a child was found dead on Oct. 26.
GBI officials say that although the investigation is still underway, evidence gathered so far led them to charge Motes with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, and cruelty to children.
Investigators have not released the child’s identity, the child’s relationship to Motes, or the cause of death.
Once the investigation concludes, the GBI will submit the case file to the Northeastern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
