A late-night argument about how many eggs a chicken can lay took a dangerous turn last week when a Florida man allegedly opened fire on three bar patrons in a pub parking lot.
Peter Riera, 44, was arrested after he called 911 to report the incident. According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, the dispute began inside the pub as patrons debated an agricultural question: how many eggs a chicken can produce.
The discussion grew heated and spilled into the parking lot after closing time. Investigators say Riera, who had been smoking marijuana, became “agitated” and “paranoid,” believing the others were attempting to deceive him.
Police say Riera pulled out a .45-caliber Glock and fired four rounds toward the three individuals, who ran for cover. No injuries were reported.
Riera now faces multiple charges, including:
-
Three counts of attempted aggravated battery with a deadly weapon
-
Four counts of discharging a firearm in public
-
One count of using a firearm while under the influence
He is currently being held without bond.
Police also arrested two of the other individuals for obstruction or resisting arrest.
