A Chicago man has been charged with possessing and dealing methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as carrying nearly a kilogram of cannabis, according to Naperville police and the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Brock Okennard, 45, faces nine felony counts, including possession of meth, possession with intent to deliver meth, possession of cocaine and cannabis, and resisting a police officer.
Authorities said the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration notified Naperville police on Nov. 8 that a man suspected of trafficking meth from California to Illinois would be arriving at the Naperville Amtrak station.
Officers located the suspect—identified as Okennard—shortly before 1:30 p.m. When police approached and informed him there was a warrant for his arrest, Okennard tried to flee.
A brief struggle followed, and officers took him into custody. Three officers sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Investigators said a search of Okennard’s backpack uncovered more than 153 grams of a “pink powdery substance,” which later tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine, along with nearly 1,000 grams of cannabis.
Okennard is scheduled to appear in court on December 8.
