A Fort Bliss soldier was arrested Tuesday in Las Cruces after reportedly attacking his girlfriend during an argument.
According to the Las Cruces Police Department, 22-year-old Private Ryder Scott got into a disagreement with his girlfriend of eight months and reportedly had to be separated from her after allegedly throwing her and pinning her down on the floor.
According to the records, police said a witness informed them he heard the girlfriend plead for help.
The witness stated that he entered the room and discovered Scott on top of her, holding her down, and had to remove him from her.
When speaking with investigators, the victim stated that she had been with Scott for around eight months.
Fort Bliss recognized Scott as an infantryman with the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, and issued the following statement.
Pvt. Ryder Scott, an infantryman assigned to the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, was arrested by the Las Cruces Police Department on Nov. 11, 2025. The 1st Armored Division is cooperating with the appropriate authorities as they conduct their investigation. Currently, we are unable to comment further as this matter remains under active investigation. Please direct further inquiries for this current incident to the Las Cruces Police Department.
Scott is charged with two counts of violence on a household member.
According to court documents, Scott was released from jail on Wednesday on a personal recognizance bail.
Scott is not permitted to consume alcohol, take, sell, or purchase illegal substances, possess a gun or hazardous weapon, or contact the victim or witness under the terms of his release.
