A federal criminal complaint unsealed Friday charges Robert Logan Shoecraft III, 35, of Tampa, with interstate communication of a threat to injure or kill. If convicted, Shoecraft faces up to five years in federal prison, prosecutors said.
The case was investigated by the FBI, U.S. Capitol Police, and the U.S. Secret Service, and will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lindsey Schmidt and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Wheeler III.
According to the complaint, Shoecraft allegedly made two separate threatening communications targeting federal officials or their family members. In May 2024, he reportedly called the office of a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and left an expletive-filled voicemail that included threats: “we’re coming for you, we’re gonna fing kill you,” and “we have fing guns too, you stupid c***.”
The complaint also alleges a second threat occurred on October 31, 2025, when Shoecraft sent a direct social media message to the wife of a federal official who serves as an Advisor to the President. That message, prosecutors say, contained violent political rhetoric and threats: “You and your husband will be dragged through the streets like Mussolini and his b**** after all this is done. This is our country, and they will make sure you and your husband suffer for what you’ve done. You have no idea what’s in store for you.”
