The 21-year-old who stabbed a student on ASU’s West Valley campus last year was recently sentenced to jail.
Kaci Sloan was sentenced to 11 years in prison on November 7 in Maricopa County Superior Court after pleading guilty to aggravated assault in connection with a stabbing that occurred in an ASU classroom in September 2024.
Witnesses told authorities that the defendant stabbed another student without provocation before bystanders jumped to stop the attack. According to court records, Sloan allegedly informed investigators that she planned the attack but knew nothing about the other student except her name.
The injured student had surgery following the stabbing.
Sloan pleaded guilty earlier this year to aggravated assault and disorderly behavior. The defendant received a two-year term for disorderly conduct, which will be served concurrently with the other sentence.
