Pennsylvania Man Arrested After Months on the Run for Kidnapping and Assault of Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend

A 24-year-old Pennsylvania man has been arrested after months on the run, facing multiple felony charges including kidnapping, aggravated assault of an unborn child, and firearm offenses, authorities said.

Justin Daugherty was taken into custody Friday in Stowe Township, ending a manhunt that began in late August following a violent incident in McKees Rocks. Police allege Daugherty assaulted and restrained his pregnant ex-girlfriend for several days after confronting her at her home.

According to a criminal complaint, Daugherty allegedly punched the woman repeatedly in the abdomen after learning she was pregnant by another man. When the woman’s current boyfriend and a friend tried to rescue her, Daugherty allegedly opened fire, injuring one of them before forcing the woman and her 1-year-old child into his car.

Authorities said the victim managed to secretly call 911 during the abduction, leading to an intensive search.

Daugherty is now being held without bond at the Allegheny County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 18.
