Nearly two dozen people were injured Sunday night after a bus overturned along Highway 330 in the San Bernardino Mountains, officials said.
The crash occurred around 8:50 p.m. near mile marker 38, between Highland and Running Springs, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
Of the 36 people on board, 20 were taken to nearby hospitals, including three with severe injuries, firefighters reported. “The remainder of the passengers suffered minor injuries and were not transported or reported no injury at all,” the department said in a post on X
Fire officials confirmed the bus was the only vehicle involved, and there was no fire or hazardous materials at the scene. The vehicle was carrying both adults and teenagers at the time of the crash.
Crews from Big Bear, Arrowbear, and Running Springs fire departments, along with San Bernardino National Forest personnel, assisted in the response.
SR-330 was closed in both directions as investigators from the California Highway Patrol worked to determine the cause of the crash. Drivers were advised to use State Route 18 as an alternate route. Authorities did not provide an estimated time for when the roadway would reopen.
