A Pennsylvania man has been apprehended and extradited to Connecticut in connection with false charges totaling more than $4,300 in a local scholarship account.
Giovanny Jimenez, 31, of Beaver Meadows, Pennsylvania, was arrested on October 21 by Pennsylvania State Police and extradited to Connecticut on November 5.
On June 5, the North Branford Police Department received a report from a person involving unauthorized charges to a scholarship account designed to aid graduating high school students in the North Branford community.
Detective Craig Miller headed the investigation, which revealed that Jimenez was responsible for the bogus claims and lived in Pennsylvania.
Jimenez was issued an arrest warrant with the possibility of extradition.
Jimenez is being jailed on a $25,000 court-set bond and is expected to appear in court on November 6 to face accusations of third-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft.
