A St. Louis teen who was detained after a nearly 30-mile police chase through mid-Missouri has pleaded guilty.
Jaylen Hubbard pled guilty on Friday to one count of second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. He was sentenced to five days at the Callaway County Jail.
In May, a deputy was dispatched to the Auxvasse area to investigate an SUV that was parked with its lights on and doors open. The SUV had been determined to be stolen.
While on the scene, a car went slowly by and then accelerated after passing the deputy. Officials say the driver overtook vehicles on the shoulder and reached speeds of 135 mph during the pursuit. Montgomery County deputies successfully deployed a spike strip near New Florence, bringing the chase to a halt. Hubbard surrendered at the scene.
His two accomplices, Dominique Beloch of St. Louis and a minor, were apprehended following a lengthy search using drones and K-9s.
Beloch is accused of resisting arrest and two charges of second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. He is set to appear in court later this month. The juvenile was handed over to juvenile authorities.
