Texas Weather Alert: Record Warmth On Friday And Saturday, With A Cold Front Late Weekend

The US National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio forecasts that temperatures will rise far above average by the end of the week, with highs near or above record levels on Friday and Saturday before a powerful cold front passes through late Saturday night.

Forecast highs in central and south-central Texas, including Austin, San Antonio, and Del Rio, are predicted to range from the upper 80s to around 90°F. The warmth will be accompanied by a light southeast breeze and low morning clouds.

However, a cold front will arrive Saturday night, bringing gusty north winds and a significant drop in temperatures by Sunday. Sunday’s highs are expected to fall into the 60s, with overnight lows dropping into the 40s by early next week.

The weather service reports that little rain is forecast with this system, but travelers should prepare for strong gusts and much cooler air to end the weekend.
