A Florida City man with a lengthy criminal history was arrested on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after allegedly stealing a taxi in Marathon and leading police to a stop in Islamorada.
Misael Asaria Bocio, 43, of Florida City, was taken into custody and charged with grand theft auto and driving with a suspended license for the third or subsequent time.
The incident began around 11:15 a.m. when the taxi was reported stolen from the 5500 block of the Overseas Highway in Marathon. Reports indicate the keys were left inside the vehicle, and the doors were unlocked.
Authorities spotted the stolen cab shortly after, being driven erratically northbound in Islamorada. Officers identified Bocio as the driver, stopped the vehicle, and recovered the taxi.
Bocio is known as a habitual offender and had only recently been released from prison. His prior convictions include robbery with a firearm, false imprisonment, and burglary with assault on an occupant.
After his arrest, Bocio was transported to the Monroe County Jail.
