2 People Arrested After Police Find $18,000 Of Stolen Merchandise Inside Hotel Room

Two people were arrested after police discovered $18,000 in merchandise inside a hotel room on Monday.

According to the Chesterfield Police Department, officers responded to the Sunglass Hut at 18521 Outlet Boulevard on Monday to investigate a theft claim.

The manager told police she discovered some missing slots when she entered the store that day and then observed two people on a security camera taking sunglasses from the store the day before.

Police claim the sunglasses were worth more than $1,300.

The suspects’ vehicle was later discovered at a hotel. After checking their room, authorities discovered $18,000 worth of merchandise.

One of the suspects admitted to stealing from seven different stores in the Chesterfield Premium Outlet Mall. They also admitted to stealing from Chicago’s Premium Outlet Mall.

The two suspects have been identified as Rigoberta Vega from New Jersey and Shakera Brown from Tennessee.

Both have been charged with theft.
