Orlando Man Fired 33 Bullets Towards Mother And Her Teen Son In Road-rage Incident: Affidavit

An Orlando man fired nearly three dozen bullets at a woman and her 17-year-old son because he was angry that he was apparently cut off while driving, according to an arrest affidavit.

J’veohn Jackson, 22, was arrested and placed into jail for aggravated assault with a handgun and public firearm discharge.

Affidavit: Angry over being cut off on the road

Around 2:07 p.m. on October 29, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an aggravated assault at North Powers Drive and Silver Star Road.

According to an Orange County arrest document, a woman informed deputies that she accidentally cut off Jackson while driving on Silver Star Road on Wednesday. Jackson then rolled down his window and pointed a revolver at her and her 17-year-old passenger, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to the affidavit, after calling police, the woman turned off Silver Star Road and onto Stardust Lane, but Jackson followed her.

After passing the woman, Jackson got out of his car, pulled out a gun, and fired several shots at her automobile, according to the sheriff’s office. According to the allegation, Jackson fired approximately 33 rounds at her car.

The gunfire resulted in no injuries, according to officials.

The woman told deputies that Jackson returned to his vehicle and drove away following the incident. He and his vehicle were later discovered at a residence on Riviera Drive.

According to the affidavit, deputies located an AR-15-style firearm and many expended bullet casings.

Affidavit: Possible motive?

The sheriff’s report states that Jackson informed the deputies that he suspected they were following him.

Jackson informed the deputies that he noticed a car trailing him across multiple streets and expressed his desire for the vehicle to not pursue him home. He told deputies that he turned down Stardust Lane, got out of his car, and began firing.

He admitted to owning the gun and using it in the shooting, according to the arrest affidavit.

Nearby Homes Hit by Bullets

Later that day, around 2:21 p.m., deputies arrived at Stardust Lane to investigate an aggravated assault report. The affidavit stated that they discovered numerous gunshot casings on and near the road. Deputies conducted well-being checks on persons who live near the road.

According to the affidavit, one resident informed deputies that bullets had damaged her home. Deputies noticed that a bullet had destroyed a kitchen cabinet before striking a wall on one side of the house.

Deputies reported damage to another neighboring property but were unable to reach the owner. There were no injuries, according to officials.

Investigators connected Jackson to the incident based on witness testimony.

Jackson was brought to the Orange County Jail and charged.

Deputies said he faces additional accusations such as shooting into a home, criminal mischief, and three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
