Authorities have confirmed the death of a missing teen in central Mississippi.
Melvin Harter, 14, was discovered dead on Friday afternoon, according to Smith County Sheriff Joel Houston. The sheriff declined to provide any information concerning the teen’s death.
Harter was reported missing on Friday morning, prompting an alert to be issued.
He was last seen alive at noon Thursday on the 100 block of County Road 47 in Smith County, southeast of Jackson.
The investigation regarding Harter’s death is still ongoing.
