A huge narcotics bust in Houston led to the seizure of 200 kg of methamphetamine, authorities announced. The Westside Narcotics Task Force led the operation, with assistance from the Houston Police Department’s Tactical Unit.
According to a press release from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, the operation occurred on October 14, 2025, on the 8000 block of Emmott Road, with the goal of targeting an international drug trafficking organization.
Investigators identified a source within the organization and apprehended Orlando Gomez-Garcia, who had approximately 10 kilograms of crystal methamphetamines in his possession. A further 190 kilos were taken from his home, which was being utilized as a clandestine conversion laboratory.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office charged Gomez-Garcia with state drug charges. The Westside Narcotics Task Force, which covers five counties, consists of investigators from several local law enforcement organizations as well as the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.
