Police: Chicago Man Charged After Fully Automatic Ghost Gun Found During Traffic Stop

A Chicago man is facing a felony firearms charge after sheriff’s officers discovered a loaded, fully automatic “ghost gun” in his car during a traffic stop in the South Loop.

According to Cook County Sheriff’s Police, officers stopped a Ford Fusion at 11 p.m. on September 30 in the 1700 block of South State Street for a vehicle code violation.

Deputies said they smelled weed and found what appeared to be the remains of blunts inside.

The driver, Markise Bullocks, 18, was requested to get out of the automobile. During the search, officers discovered a ghost gun, which is a firearm without a serial number and loaded with an extended magazine.

According to investigators, the weapon also had a switch that enabled full automatic mode and a laser sight.

Police also say they found marijuana in the car.

Bullocks lacked both a FOID card and a concealed carry license, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Bullock with unauthorized possession of a machine gun, which is a Class X felony. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possessing ammunition without a valid FOID and unlawful possession of cannabis.

Following his initial court appearance, a judge ordered Bullock’s release under electronic monitoring.
