Man Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison For Murder Of Father At Grand Prairie Hotel

A Tarrant County jury has sentenced 34-year-old Venson Roman Reyes Jr. to 25 years in jail for the murder of his father, Venson Reyes Sr.

The attack took place last year at an extended-stay motel in Grand Prairie. Authorities said Reyes Jr. shoved a woman into a closet before assaulting and murdering his 57-year-old father. Reyes Sr. died of his injuries days later, on January 20, 2024, at an Arlington hospital after being put in a vegetative condition by blunt force trauma.

The Grand Prairie Police Department conducted the investigation, with prosecutors Idris Akinpelu and Taylor Ross handling the case in court.
