Canadian Fugitive Wanted in Florida Arrested in France

A months-long international manhunt has ended with the capture of Canadian fugitive Daniel St. Pierre, 59, who was wanted by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) in Florida on serious felony charges.

St. Pierre was arrested in Bayonne, France, on October 2, 2025, following a coordinated operation between the U.S. Marshals Service – Middle District of Florida, the Marshals’ Office of International Operations, INTERPOL, and French law enforcement.

The Charges and Escape

St. Pierre, a Canadian citizen, had been out on bond in Florida while facing charges of lewd and lascivious molestation on a minor child.
His flight began on July 21, 2025, when a GPS monitoring officer alerted Detective Marcacci that St. Pierre had likely removed his court-ordered ankle monitor. Investigators soon confirmed he had fled the state, prompting a felony warrant for tampering with a GPS monitoring device.

According to authorities, St. Pierre’s escape came shortly after incriminating deposition testimony from the victim and witnesses in his molestation case — testimony that allegedly led him to believe conviction was imminent.

A Multi-Nation Pursuit

After fleeing Florida, St. Pierre reportedly traveled first to Canada, where he then used his Canadian passport to move through Portugal before finally reaching France.

The U.S. Marshals Service, working closely with international partners, launched an intensive search across multiple countries. The case required coordination between law enforcement agencies in the U.S., Canada, Portugal, and France, with support from INTERPOL’s global database and tracking systems.

Capture in France

The hunt ended on October 2, when French S.W.A.T. officers, acting on intelligence shared by U.S. Marshals and INTERPOL, arrested St. Pierre on the streets of Bayonne without incident.

He is now being held in France pending extradition to the United States, where he will face prosecution in Hernando County for both his original child molestation charges and flight-related offenses.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement expressing “deep gratitude” to all participating agencies for their “outstanding cooperation and international coordination”, calling the arrest a testament to global law enforcement partnership in bringing fugitives to justice.
