Two people have been arrested after an 18-year-old was fatally shot in northeast Bakersfield.
The Bakersfield Police Department reported that officers responded around 12:55 a.m. on October 5 to the 3425 Meadow Vista Court following reports of a shooting.
Officers found Evan Zion Alema, 18, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite medical aid, Alema was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators collected physical evidence, obtained witness statements, and reviewed video surveillance showing a possible suspect vehicle. The Bakersfield Police Special Enforcement Unit later identified two suspects connected to the shooting.
Justin Hernandez-Florez, 24, and Jaden Ambriz, 20, were taken into custody and booked into Kern County Jail on homicide and related weapons charges.
