2 Detained On Drug Charges Following Route 22 Traffic Stop In Hunterdon County

A Hillside man and a Clinton Township woman were arrested on narcotics charges earlier this month after a traffic check on Route 22 in Clinton Township, according to police.

According to police, on September 7, an officer on routine patrol noticed the driver of a white Chevrolet van commit several traffic violations near Potterstown Road. Tyrone C. Riley, 37, of Hillside, and Kimberly S. Sanders, 42, of Clinton Township, were the driver and passenger, respectively.

Both occupants allegedly engaged in suspicious conduct, and police said they gave permission for authorities to inspect the vehicle. The search turned up narcotics and drug paraphernalia with narcotics residue.

Authorities eventually discovered that Sanders had an active warrant from Jersey City Municipal Court. Riley and Sanders were detained and transferred to police headquarters for processing.

Riley was charged with drug paraphernalia and issued motor vehicle summonses for making an incorrect turn and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle. He was released until his court appearance.

Sanders was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, drug paraphernalia, and contempt of court, according to police. She also received a summons for failing to wear a seatbelt and was sent to the Hunterdon County Jail on an active warrant.
