Two Arrested for Deadly Shooting of 18-Year-Old on Meadow Vista Court

Two people have been arrested following a shooting in northeast Bakersfield that left an 18-year-old dead.

The Bakersfield Police Department reported that officers responded around 12:55 a.m. on October 5 to 3425 Meadow Vista Court after a shooting was reported.

Upon arrival, officers found an 18-year-old man with apparent gunshot wounds. He received medical aid but was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Evan Zion Alema, 18, of Bakersfield.

Police collected physical evidence, interviewed witnesses, and reviewed video surveillance footage of a possible suspect vehicle. Investigations personnel then assumed control of the case.

Later that day, the Bakersfield Police Special Enforcement Unit located two individuals connected to the shooting. 24-year-old Justin Hernandez-Florez and 20-year-old Jaden Ambriz were arrested and booked into Kern County Jail on homicide and related weapons charges.
