Long Beach Man Charged With Murder and Attempted Murder After Deadly Roommate Stabbing

A Long Beach man has been charged with murder and attempted murder following a fatal stabbing that occurred among roommates over the weekend, leaving one man dead and another hospitalized.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded to a stabbing report around 10:38 a.m. Saturday on the 1300 block of Temple Avenue, where they discovered two men suffering from upper-body stab wounds.

Police identified the suspect as 34-year-old Alejandro Iniestra, who lived at the residence with the victims. Iniestra was arrested and booked on charges of murder and attempted murder and is being held on $2 million bail.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to a hospital and remains in stable condition, according to CBS News Los Angeles. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.

Investigators have not released details about what led to the violent confrontation.

Homicide Detectives Juan Carlos Reyes and Jesus Espinoza are leading the investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward or submit anonymous tips through LA Crime Stoppers.

The Long Beach Police Department said the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.

As the investigation continues, neighbors and community members are left shaken by the deadly altercation that unfolded inside what was once a shared home.
