Two men were apprehended Sunday night during ongoing protests on Portland’s South Waterfront.
On the evening of October 5, the department activated an Incident Command Team, which included a Crowd Management Incident Commander, Dialogue Liaison Officers, Bike Squad members, the Rapid Response Team, and a sound truck, to manage the demonstration.
At approximately 8:15 p.m., officers were summoned by a person who reported being harassed. On a single charge of harassment, officers arrested Darnell Canfield, 41, of Portland and booked him into the Multnomah County Detention Center.
Around two hours later, at 10:20 p.m., officers responded to a reported assault at South Bancroft Street and South Moody Avenue. They discovered a victim with non-life-threatening injuries. Police later arrested Thomas Allen, 36, of Portland, on counts of fourth-degree assault and second-degree disorderly conduct.
Since the nightly protests began in early June, the Portland Police Bureau has arrested 36 people on the South Waterfront.
