A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Oildale early Saturday morning, the Bakersfield Police Department (BPD) reported.
Officers responded to Airport Dr., just north of State Rd., around 12:30 a.m. on October 4, 2025, following reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision. Upon arrival, they found a man in the roadway suffering major injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Investigation revealed that the driver was traveling northbound on Airport Dr. and approaching the traffic signal at State Rd. when the pedestrian ran across the road outside of a crosswalk, resulting in the collision.
The BPD confirmed that speed, alcohol, and drug impairment were not factors in the crash.
