Oregon Man Faces Federal Charges After Escaping Custody and Assaulting FBI Agents

A Woodburn man faces multiple federal felony charges, including assaulting FBI agents, after allegedly escaping from a moving vehicle while handcuffed and resisting arrest during a drug-related operation.

Ezequiel Ramos Hernandez, 28, appeared in federal court on Friday, October 3, 2025, to face charges of Assaulting Federal Agents and Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances. He remains in custody pending further court proceedings.

According to court records, the incident occurred on October 1, 2025, when FBI agents, with assistance from the Woodburn and Salem Police Departments, executed a search warrant at Ramos Hernandez’s hotel room in Woodburn. Agents reportedly seized distributable quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine during the search.

After his arrest, Ramos Hernandez was placed in a vehicle for transport. During the drive, he allegedly escaped from the moving vehicle despite being handcuffed. Two FBI agents chased him down, and Ramos Hernandez actively resisted, reportedly kicking one agent in the face multiple times. Agents eventually subdued him with help from several civilian witnesses.

Ramos Hernandez later told agents he attempted to flee because he believed he was being deported.

Assaulting a federal officer carries a potential sentence of up to eight years in federal prison.
