A Kern County jury has convicted Scottie Chambers of felony criminal threats, simple assault, and brandishing a weapon after he threatened his girlfriend’s father with a knife and threw a flashlight at him.
The Kern County District Attorney’s Office said the incident occurred on June 29, 2025, outside the victim’s Oildale home. Chambers and his girlfriend were arguing when the woman’s father stepped in after seeing Chambers push her.
Prosecutors said Chambers pulled out a folding knife, pointed it at the victim, and threatened, “I’ll cut your throat. I’ll cut your wife’s throat.” He then stabbed the victim’s car tire and, while walking away, threw a 10-pound flashlight at him.
The court also confirmed Chambers has a prior serious felony conviction, making this a second-strike case under California law.
District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer said, “Chambers resorted to unnecessary violence that warrants legal consequences. Given his criminal history, he faces an enhanced prison sentence that reflects the severity of his offense.”
Chambers is scheduled to be sentenced on November 12, 2025, and could face up to 11 years in prison as a second-strike offender.
