A Wildwood woman was apprehended on drug charges after getting busted with heroin and fentanyl in the Lowe’s parking lot.
Around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, a deputy saw 45-year-old Lauren Michelle Carcano driving into the Lowe’s parking lot at 13705 U.S. Hwy. 441, Lady Lake, in a grey Nissan sedan, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
A check of the tag found that it had not been assigned to a vehicle. After it was halted, a K-9 unit searched around the outside for narcotics. The K-9 positively identified the presence of narcotics, and the vehicle was searched, according to the report.
Under the driver’s seat was a slim black rectangular container containing heroin, fentanyl, tin foil with charred residue, and little empty bags. Carcano was later searched and found to have buprenorphine and naloxone sublingual film. She stated that she had forgotten it was in her jeans pocket and claimed to have a prescription for it, which she could not substantiate, according to the report.
Carcano was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, fentanyl, controlled substances without a prescription, and drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center and freed after paying a $8,500 bond.
