Cheryl Pyle, 55, has been taken into custody on charges of abusing her elderly stepmother in their Orlando home.
On Tuesday evening, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to a well-being check at 12313 Abberton Court and discovered an elderly victim with multiple injuries.
FOX 35 Orlando stated that her injuries included contusions to her eye, jaw, and cheek, as well as severe swelling on her face and lacerations on her hand, wrist, and elbow.
Following the call, which was prompted by someone overhearing a life threat, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she confessed that Pyle and Pyle’s partner had tortured her since they moved into her home after her husband’s death in December 2024.
The victim stated that Pyle and her boyfriend had kept her at home for around two days.
They had tied a rope from her bedroom door to the garage door to keep her from escaping and confiscated her phone and tablet to prevent her from speaking with anyone, according to WESH.
According to court records, law enforcement has previously visited this residence for domestic-related incidents and threats, with at least four calls since late July, according to WESH. One prominent incident involving the homeowners came in August, when they challenged a door-to-door salesman in an altercation that erupted on social media, complete with curse words and racist slurs. Despite this, no charges were made in connection with the incident.
