Long Beach Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Federal Prison for Meth Trafficking in Pennsylvania

A 62-year-old Long Beach, California resident has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine in western Pennsylvania, federal prosecutors announced.

Derrick Polk was convicted of conspiring to distribute and possessing with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of meth between April 2019 and July 2021, according to the Justice Department. Prosecutors said a federal wiretap captured Polk obtaining narcotics and redistributing them in the region.

In addition to his prison term, Polk must serve five years of supervised release and forfeit $399,000 in cash, Rolex watches and jewelry valued at more than $150,000, and a firearm.

The case was prosecuted under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) program, with investigators from the FBI’s Laurel Highlands office, Homeland Security Investigations, and state and local Pennsylvania agencies.

Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti praised the multi-agency effort, saying the sentence demonstrates the government’s commitment to dismantling large-scale drug networks.
