U.S. to Deport 120 Iranians, Tehran Confirms

The United States will deport 120 Iranian nationals to Iran over the next two days, according to Iranian state-affiliated media, citing a senior foreign ministry official.

Hossein Noushabadi, head of consular affairs at Iran’s foreign ministry, told the Tasnim news agency that most of the group crossed into the U.S. “illegally” via Mexico. He said deportees will return to Iran through Qatar and urged Washington to respect the rights of Iranian migrants.

The New York Times earlier reported that the Trump administration agreed to deport “around 100” Iranians under a deal reached between the two governments.

Noushabadi added that the group is part of 400 Iranians slated for deportation, though some allegedly hold valid U.S. residency permits. He emphasized that Iran will accept them back without issue, saying: “They left Iran legally. There is no obstacle to their return.”
