Woman Detained In Connection To 2023 Crash That Left Rideshare Passenger Dead

A woman has been detained in connection with a 2023 crash that killed a ridesharing passenger in north Phoenix.

Phoenix police said a 21-year-old woman was detained Monday in connection with the crash on September 9, 2023, near Tatum and Shea boulevards.

When officers arrived that night, they discovered two vehicles involved in the incident.

Alec Carbine, 28, suffered catastrophic injuries in the incident. He was rushed to the hospital, where he eventually died of his injuries.

Carbine was a passenger in a ridesharing vehicle when the accident occurred.

Four other individuals were injured in the crash, although their injuries were not life-threatening.

The 21-year-old lady was driving the other vehicle involved in the collision.

According to police, the investigation determined that speed contributed to the crash.

It is unclear what charges the woman faces.
